Reader Relishes Hot Dogs at Pier Cafe

Are you craving a good hot dog or sandwich?  Want to combine that craving
with some ocean breezes?  Then listen to this suggestion from reader Elizabeth
Cotney, who sent us e-mail recommending the Pier Cafe on the pier at
Garden City Beach.

"I've had plenty of hot dogs in my 10 years here and find the very best above all
Is at the Pier Cafe," Cotney wrote.  "I particularly like it with cole slaw.  They
also make a delicious grilled cheese, which I usually have with tomato on it....I
would really rather go there than many fancy places.  You can sit on a deck
overlooking the ocean."

The cafe is open from 7 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.  The hours will
probably change as the fall winds on, said David Patrick, general manager
of the pier.  He said the cafe will likely close for the season sometime in November,
depending on the weather and business.

Meals are served throughout the day, including a breakfast special of two eggs,
sausage or bacon, grits and toast.

Other breakfast items include omelettes, pancakes and sausage and egg sandwiches.

Lunch and dinner items feature a wide assortment of sandwiches, including the
hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Michael Patrick is the cafe manager.
